Andile Jali’s agent Mike Makaab has provided an update on the player’s stance ahead of his exit from Mamelodi Sundowns.

Makaab was speaking to Gagasi FM’s Simtho Dladla on Friday, following reports that Jali will not return to Sundowns.

He admitted that “the likelihood of Jali playing for Mamelodi Sundowns again was minimal”, adding that there was interest from overseas.

“We have toshow respect to the football club that has his contract. Even though the likelihood of Andile ever playing there again is minimal. It’s highly unlikely. Andile has asked me to ensure that we respect his situation at Sundowns and that we finalise his exit from Sundowns prior to us engaging with any other football club,” Makaab said.

Andile Jali struggled for game time this season at Sundowns.

He said he hoped the Sundowns chapter would be settled in less than two weeks.

“That has to happen sooner than later, and I am confident that it’ll happen within the next week or maximum, two so that during the month of May, we will be in a position to start seriously engaging clubs regarding his services for the next season.”

Makaab said they would only consider “other opportunities” once the Sundowns issue is resolved.

Jali has not trained with Sundowns since his suspension in February. He was slapped with suspension when he came to training drunk earlier this year.

Nonetheless, Jali had been reduced to a bit-part role, with Teboho Mokoena starring in that defensive midfield role.

Jali was the Midfielder of the Season for the 2021/22 season but found the going tough this season following the emergence of Bafana Bafana rock Mokoena.

His five-year flirtation with the DStv Premiership champions will end in June when his contract expires.

The former Orlando Pirates holding midfielder has been linked to his former club and Kaizer Chiefs. Stellenbosch are also said to be keen on signing him, but the only impediment could be his salary demands.
