Marumo Gallants’ talisman Ranga Chivaviro has caught the eye of a PSL club following his recent form.

The 30-year-old forward sunk in a hattrick on Wednesday night as the Limpopo side beat Chippa United 3-1 in a DStv Premiership encounter.

The win saw them steer away from the relegation zone, moving from 15th place to 14. They are now on 27 points, while 15th placed Chippa are on 26, with basement side Maritzburg United on 24.

Just last week, Marumo were at the basement of the table, and the midweek win would have provided some relief.

The hattrick took his tally to nine this season as he converted twice from the spot.

SN24 has it on good authority that Richards Bay are keen on the talented forward.

“Richards Bay are interested in Ranga, and there’s a feeling he would be keen to move next season with the instability at Marumo.

“Like all the other players, he’s concerned by the constant changes. One moment they are in Polokwane, the next in Rustenburg and then Bloemfontein.

“So it’s highly possible he will be open to moving,” a source close to the player said.

Marumo Gallants interim coach Raymond Mdaka praised the striker, saying he was important to the club.

He made the remarks shortly after Chivaviro scored his first hat trick.

The ex-Baroka FC attacker is now two goals behind the league’s top goal scorer Peter Shalulile of Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Namibian has 11 goals, while SuperSport United’s Bradley Grobler has scored 10.

“If I’m not mistaken, he is on eight or nine goals. These are the kinds of players that when you have them upfront, you always believe that at any given moment if anything comes, you can get a goal,” Mdaka told journalists.

Chivaviro has also been pivotal in Marumo’s CAF Confederation Cup campaign, scoring five goals. It brings his season’s tally to 14 in all competitions.

The Abram Sello-owned outfit is in the quarterfinals of the CAF Confederation Cup, where they face Pyramids of Egypt later this month.
