Former Zimbabwe international Khama Billiat looks set to get a chance to salvage his Kaizer Chiefs career.
The ex-Warriors talisman has struggled with injuries in 2023, with his contract set to run out in June.
The injuries have not made matters any better, sidelining him in the last six months of his contract.
It has meant that Billiat has not done anything to force management’s hand to give him a new deal.
KHAMA BILLIAT COULD FEATURE FOR CHIEFS
However, the former Mamelodi Sundowns star could now feature in the season’s last four games.
The 32-year-old was initially expected to miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on his groin earlier this year.
Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane confirmed he could now play as they chase a second-place finish.
“Khama might be available for the last three or four games of the season. We are going to have to manage him and see if he will be ready again to play,” Zwane told the club’s website.
While the Harare-born star is out of contract in three months, the club has the option to extend by a year.
However, his absence due to injury may have affected his chances of getting a new deal. This is not the first time Billiat has been ruled out for a lengthy spell by injury.

He was also out of action in September because of a knee injury, missing four games in the process.
LINKED TO SUPERSPORT UNITED
This season, he has featured 11 times across all competitions. He has registered three assists while he was yet to find the back of the net.
Billiat has recently been linked with a move to SuperSport United if Chiefs decide not to renew his current contract.
However, the challenge with SuperSport United is that they may not afford to match his Chiefs package.
In fact, many other teams in the PSL who may be interested in Billiat may struggle to meet his salary demands.
