The Confederation of African Football [CAF] has unanimously endorsed the joint bid of Morocco, Spain and Portugal to host the 2030 FIFA Men’s World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal.
Morocco recently joined Spain and Portugal in a bid to host the 2030 World Cup in a three-way alliance with the two European nations.

CAF ENDORSES MOROCCO’S BID

The transcontinental bid received a boost after the CAF unanimously endorsed it. The endorsement came during a meeting held today via video conference on Wednesday afternoon, where all members affirmed their full support for Morocco’s candidacy.
They believe the North African nation’s push is an African candidacy, precisely as stated in the message of His Majesty King Mohammed VI during the CAF Awards Ceremony in Kigali.
“This joint bid, unprecedented in football history, will bring together Africa and Europe, the northern and southern Mediterranean, and the African, Arab and Euro-Mediterranean worlds. It will also bring out the best in all of us —a combination of genius, creativity, experience and means,” HM Mohammed VI said last month.

WHAT PATRICE MOTSEPE SAID

CAF president Patrice Motsepe had recently hinted that the continental football body would back the unique bid to unite two continents.
Morocco are bidding to become only the second African country after South Africa to stage the Men’s Football World Cup.
“We will engage as the leadership of CAF and discuss to make sure that we are not just united and don’t have our votes separated. Because then it’s going to make it difficult for us to succeed. I’m confident that we will come together and ensure that we succeed and that an African nation indeed is part of hosting the World Cup,” he said in February 2023.

COUNT ON AFRICAN COUNTRIES

Morocco can now count on the support of African nations in their sixth attempt to bring the global soccer showpiece to the continent.
Morocco’s bids were previously unsuccessful in hosting the editions of 1994, 1998, 2006, 2010 and 2026.
Morocco has proven it has what it takes to host the World Cup, with state-of-the-art stadiums, infrastructure and hotels.
They were recently hailed for successfully hosting the FIFA Club World Cup in February, while they are also in the running to host the 2025 AFCON.
