Sekhukhune United forward Tshegofatso Mabasa has picked the PSL striker he learns from.
Mabasa is on loan at Sekhukhune from Orlando Pirates this season but has struggled for game time.
The 26-year-old forward has made eight starts for Babina Noko, coming off the bench six times in 23 matches.
He has scored two goals and provided one assist. His last appearance was exactly a month ago when he played 16 minutes in the 2-0 loss to Royal AM on 4 March 2023.
TSHEGOFATSO MABASA, NOT TRUTER’S PREFERENCE
Sekhukhune United coach Brandon Truter has preferred the likes of Chibuike Ohizu and Victor Letsoalo upfront. Both of them are on four goals this season.
In an effort to constantly improve his game, Mabasa says he analyses two PSL strikers to learn from them.
“One of the strikers I’ve always looked up to in this country in terms of finishing is Bradley Grobler at SuperSport United,” Mabasa told Power FM’s Mmasekepe Matsebane.
“Peter has been doing quite well in front of goal at Sundowns. Those are the two people that I’ve always looked at their game and how they always take their opportunities.”
He said he was impressed by the areas where the duo takes their opportunities from.
ANALYSING PERFORMANCES
“The areas they take those opportunities from, and what technique they use. At the end of the day, it boils down to that final detail of you scoring a goal that can win you a game. A league or trophy,” he added.
He is convinced analysing the performances of strikers he competes with in the PSL will help his game grow.
“Having to constantly analyse and learn from people you think you’re in competition with so that you can also get better. There’s always something you can learn from one another,” concluded Mabasa.
With just six games left before the end of the season, he will be hoping to set down a marker.
Pirates are likely monitoring him to make a decision on his future when the season ends.
