Orlando Pirates look set to bring a national Under 23 attacking trio to Parktown before the new season.
With the 2022/23 season nearing the end and Mamelodi Sundowns set to be crowned champions, Pirates are already planning for next season.
The Buccaneers struggled for goals earlier in the season despite having several options upfront.
During the January transfer window, the Bucs brought Kermit Erasmus and Ndumiso Mabena from Sundowns.
His only appearance for Pirates was a 15-minute cameo against Sundowns on 4 February 2023. The Soweto giants lost that match 1-0.
Mabena has struggled for game time, while Erasmus has had a fair share.
Ahead of next season, SN24 has gathered that they will be looking to bring a trio playing in David Notoane’s Under 23 team.
Pirates have reportedly made contact with Cape Town Spurs forward Ashley Cupido’s management over the services of the youth international.
The 21-year-old has been in fine form, scoring 14 goals to help Spurs in their Motsepe Foundation Championship charge.
Kaizer Chiefs have also been linked with the talented forward’s signature, with Burundian forward Caleb Bimenyimana falling out of favour.
Despite signing for Pirates in June 2022, another youth international, Azola Matrose, is set to join the Bucs during the off-season.
The 20-year-old was signed by Pirates at the end of last season but was loaned back to Chippa United for another season.
The attacking midfielder has scored two goals in 16 outings in the DStv Premiership this season.
Matrose, who missed the Under 23s tie against Congo Brazzaville at the end of March 2023 through injury, can also play on either wing.
Jose Riveiro will also be looking to welcome on-loan striker Boitumelo Radiopane.
The Pirates youth product has netted five goals in 15 games for Spurs.
The 21-year-old will return to his mother club to fight for his place come the end of the season.
